GoGuardian Teacher will normally prompt users to allow desktop notifications to provide alerts when students send new chat message while a teacher may not be viewing their GoGuardian Teacher classroom session.
Often times websites will send SPAM via desktop notifications and it may be a reflex for many to deny GoGuardian permission to send desktop notifications through the browser.
How to enable desktop notifications for Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge:
Google Chrome
Enable Desktop notifications for Google Chrome:
- Navigate to teacher.goguardian.com and sign in.
- Click the lock icon to the left of the url in the address bar at the top of the window.
- Click the drop-down for "Notifications" and select "Allow."
- Navigate to account settings within GoGuardian Teacher: https://teacher.goguardian.com/account/preferences
- Ensure the toggle to enable desktop notifications is enabled.
Firefox
Enable Desktop notifications for Mozilla Firefox:
- Navigate to teacher.goguardian.com and sign in.
- Click the notification icon to the left of the url in the address bar at the top of the window.
- Click the X to the right of the disabled notification preference to unblock notifications.
- Navigate to account settings within GoGuardian Teacher: https://teacher.goguardian.com/account/preferences
- Ensure the toggle to enable desktop notifications is enabled.
Safari
Enable Desktop notifications for Safari:
- Navigate to teacher.goguardian.com and sign in.
- Click "Safari" at the top left corner of the desktop to open the system drop-down menu for Safari.
- Click "Preferences."
- Under "General" near the bottom left corner of the preferences window, click "Notifications."
- Ensure goguardian.com is set to "Allow."
- Navigate to account settings within GoGuardian Teacher: https://teacher.goguardian.com/account/preferences
- Ensure the toggle to enable desktop notifications is enabled.
Microsoft Edge
Enable Desktop notifications for Microsoft Edge:
- Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar
- Under "Website Permissions" toggle "Notifications" to the On position.
- Navigate to account settings within GoGuardian Teacher: https://teacher.goguardian.com/account/preferences
- Ensure the toggle to enable desktop notifications is enabled.
Internet Explorer
Internet explorer does not support desktop notifications. Please install an alternative browser to use this feature.
