Admin Audit Log
The Admin Audit Log is a useful tool that allows admins to view activity related to policy changes and sites that students were blocked from, as a way to help with troubleshooting a number of potential issues.
Reviewing Policy Changes
GoGuardian Admin allows admins to view the recent changes that were made to their filtering policies. Admins can navigate to Filtering > Audit Log to view a log of recent Policy Changes.
Here, admins will be able to view the following:
- The action that was taken,
- The admin that took this action,
- The type of action that was taken,
- The policy that was affected, and
- The time and date that the action was taken.
Activity will be sorted by the most recent actions taken.
Within the Policy Changes log, the Policies drop-down menu at the top right corner can filter by a specific policy, as well as the Actions drop-down to filter by a specific action taken on policies.
Reviewing Recent Blocked Attempts
In the Audit Log, admins can also see what student browsing activity was recently blocked! View this activity by navigating to Filtering > Audit Log from the Admin Dashboard, then clicking on the Blocked Attempts tab on the left.
In Blocked Attempts, view all blocked websites that any students filtered by GoGuardian admin were blocked from, sorted by the most recent blocked activity.
Use this view to review the URL of the site that the students are blocked at, the date and time of the attempted visit, the type of block that prevented them from visiting the site (whether a category or a custom block rule), as well as the name of the student that was blocked.
Use the search bar at the top of the Blocked Attempts log to filter activity by:
- The URL
- The site category
- The name of the student
A popular troubleshooting step is to click on the site listed in the Blocked Attempts log, which redirects to a page showing:
- An activity chart
- A list of Top Users
- A Recent Activity log
Click on "Block" or "Allow" and then choose a policy to add the allow/block rule to.
