Understanding DNS Traffic Data
When enabled, GoGuardian DNS will track traffic at the network-level for the range(s) of IPs defined in your Networks.
The DNS Traffic page displays activity from All Networks by default, and activity can be filtered by Date Range, Network, and Category. Recent Activity Search will display the last 20 most-recent results.
Viewing DNS Traffic from a particular Date Range
- Click on the Date Range drop-down menu at the top and select the date range that you would like to view reporting on
- Note: DNS Traffic can be viewed up to one month at a time
Viewing DNS Traffic from a particular Network
- Click on the "All Networks" drop-down in the top-right of your DNS Traffic page
- Select the particular network you'd like to view
Top Categories and Domains
The Top Categories and Domains section will display the eight most-accessed domains and the number of requests to those domains. The "All Categories" drop-down in this section can be used to narrow down the list of domains accessed based on the category that those websites fall under.
Recent Activity Search
The Recent Activity Search section will show the 20 most recently accessed domains, the time the website was accessed, and whether the user was allowed to access that site or not. If the website falls within a particular Website Category in GoGuardian, that information will be listed under Categories.
Note: GoGuardian DNS filters and tracks activity at the network level, and individual user activity is not tracked.
